This is the second of the three music magazine front covers of Britney Spears that I have analysed.
I have analysed a range of Britney Spears images and I chose to analyse this image and layout of this front cover of this magazine to be able to recongise any inferences as well as the messages that the front cover is trying imply and send out to it's target audioences.
The image of Britney has been positioned centre of the page cover, revealing the right side part of her body.
The image has been cropped to a side long shot, the camera is facing Britney but she is showing only the side part of her body.
Britney costume is wearing no bra but only pants, she is pressing her breasts and belly against a cushion on a wall and pressing her bum against the wall behind her while smiling at the camera. This perhaps is showing Britney’s naughty or sexually active female adult side. This would be very appealing to young men as she is almost completely naked but hiding her female best bits, causing temptation to men.
The only prop Britney uses in this image is a cushion and you could say the wall as well. As she is pressing her breasts against the cushion that’s against the wall, this helps her to reveal a bit of cleavage creating an illusion of owning fairly large attractive breasts. As her breasts and belly is on one side of the wall, her bum is on the other wall and this creates the illusion of her having a striking bum and curves.
Because Britney has hardly any clothes on and she has positioned herself on two walls highlighting certain features of her body creating an image of her being the ideal woman with the perfect bodily features in return for male attention. Also the cushion she is pressing her upper body naked body against could suggest that she can take things further in a bedroom as that is where the cushion belongs. As a whole this image suggests that Britney is presenting herself as a sex object who aims to fulfil the temptation and sexual desires of men.
There isn’t much colour used but only pretty much natural tones like her almost naked body skin tone and hair colour, White background consisting of walls, her white cushion as a prop and her white underwear as a costume. Her white pants are outlined in pink frills which help to display seduction.
